there is one section in the song that goes rather high in my range and is marked fortissimo. i can barely sing it in tune, let alone that loud! any suggestions for that problem?
the sight reading i have to do is stuff that i’ve never seen or heard before. all i get to go from is a scale and my starting pitch.

Now i want to play the harp for orchestra and as use that as my solo instrument (like hendrix is to guitar), but i can’t sight read to save my life. I could tell you what key you’re playing in when i hear it, and i can play scales in any key on any instrument, but i can’t sight read at all. I don’t know what a coda is, i don’t know rests, slures, ties. i took a theory class last year and failed every test. I can write a little music, but that’s about it. What are alternatives to learning how to read, besides a teacher and a class (both of which i can’t get at the moment) Are there softwares that could teach me, and if so what are they?

thanks for the advice, and yes perfect pitch means i play by ear. i learn songs by ear, and i remember things by ear. but that doesn’t help when you have to play something you haven’t heard!

One of the requirements in my College of Music admission is sight reading proficiency.

I STILL can read notes, (an in fact I write notes), but I need to count the note position and visualize the rhythm, rendering the music sheet useless for me (for live performances, though I can practice the score at home)
