Katelyn asked: I am doing an all county solo this coming month and part of it involves sight reading. does anyone know any good sites where i can print off sight reading music? ((preferably in an alto range and with no skips!))
Also…
any suggestions for becoming a better sight reader?
and…
there is one section in the song that goes rather high in my range and is marked fortissimo. i can barely sing it in tune, let alone that loud! any suggestions for that problem?
the sight reading i have to do is stuff that i’ve never seen or heard before. all i get to go from is a scale and my starting pitch.

Vespera Carlin asked: I have perfect pitch (not bragging) been playing piano classically since i was 2, and then when i was 10 i broke off into music recording and studio composition for the last 5 years. Now i want to play the harp for orchestra and as use that as my solo instrument (like hendrix is to guitar), but i can’t sight read to save my life. I could tell you what key you’re playing in when i hear it, and i can play scales in any key on any instrument, but i can’t sight read at all. I don’t know what a coda is, i don’t know rests, slures, ties. i took a theory class last year and failed every test. I can write a little music, but that’s about it. What are alternatives to learning how to read, besides a teacher and a class (both of which i can’t get at the moment) Are there softwares that could teach me, and if so what are they?
thank you

thanks for the advice, and yes perfect pitch means i play by ear. i learn songs by ear, and i remember things by ear. but that doesn’t help when you have to play something you haven’t heard!
