I played guiatr for about 2 years. i really got somewhere on it. I play scales and everything and learning theory on it. so i was liek whoa i love this im gonna go leanr more in school.
I sign up and boom its gay as hell. i have to take 18 credit hours a semester and have like 9 classes 2 are normal and the rest are music.To Take Music Theroy 1 u have to take keybord harmony with it. and sight singing. Ok wtf? i wanted to major in guitar now i have to leanr piano? and voice? WTF? Ok i leanr some piano and i go to tackle this. start taking lessons at school and stuff.sign up for guitar and boom theres no such thing as electric guitar in college its all classical.now im stuck trying to learn how to read msuic on guitar. [[ITS USESS}} theres no point to it the same not is in like 5 other places on the guitar.Same pitch everything. Ok now i get a call from the music head at school. I cant be a music major unless im in a the band and go to a meeting at the school also.WTF theres
1. No guitars in the band,2. the only piano thing they have is stuff for people who have been playing piano there whole life.3.wtf
now i have to learn all this stuff just to major in one instrument? and forced into stuff when well i havent played piano my whole life or read music on guitar. i just want to compose not go thru all this shit. i feel like killing myself..
i mean come on. what if i played violin for 50 years? that wouldnt magicaly make me learn paino.
and again. TO BE IN TEH BAND YOU NEED TO PLAY IDK VIOLIN and all that stuff liek you been playing it for oever 12 years…
and i have to take all this at the same time. i cant take one of the other i have to take them side by side with my toher classes. about 18-22 credit hours and work and pratcie..
im still in teh AA stage i havnt even gone to the 4 year yet. im into harmonic and melodic death metal.like stratavious and children of bodom and stuff liek that.
i was interrested in composing for video games.

Tomorrow i have to do a chair tryout and were playing excerpt from “El capitan”, a lot of scales, and their giving us a piece of music we’ve never seen before and were not sure what it is so we can sight read it. Im scared out of my mind because ive been practicing but don’t know how to play the piece and im even doing bad on the scales! I know im not a bad player [ive been playing for almost 6 years now] and only 2 other trombones can play them but they said they even struggle a little and their way good. So what can i do so i do decent tomorrow? [bands 1st hour btw lol]

In one week I have to go to Jackson, Tennessee to audition for All West Tennessee. I’m really nervous though! This is my first year, and I’ve never played in front of a judge. With a group, or independently.

For the competition, we have to sight read, play all twelve scales (the Chromatic as well), and our prepared music as well. I don’t have all the scales memorized, I’m working on that, and my Chromatic is ok. I suck at sight reading. But, my prepared sheet sounds great.

1 i went too fast on my chromatic scale & lost the notes
2 in the high notes i was muted because of my spit valves
3 in the sight reading i didn’t look at the whole thing & i got lost
4 also in the audition sheet i lost beat for a split second & got back
5 in the audition music i got off the beat for a second & then i got back on the beat

those are the mistakes i made
i had to play an audition music that i got in september
i had to play 2 scales (Eb & D) & my chromatic scale
& i had to do some sight reading (i’m not the best sight reader but i can sight read better then my class’s flutes & clarinets & everyone else in the class [small ass band])
will those kind of mistakes get me out

I have a really hard time sight reading music for some reason. I am able to play the piece when i practice but it’s hard for me to play it right there when someone gives a piece to me. Are there any tricks or websites that help to improve your sight reading for violin? Any scales or something on sheet music I can practice for sight reading. I take the suzuki method book and they have the fingering (example: 1, 2, 3) below the note which is what I usually use to read my music (unfortunately). Please help! Thanks!
