I’m really not at all gifted at sight reading, I really want to be good at piano but it takes me so long to be able to play any piece of music. I have to memorise each note before I can play the whole piece!

Please, can anyone give me any tips on how to become a good sight reader?

i play pieces that are grade eight standard, im currently doing grade six, i got a* in grade 5 music theory…. blah blah blah, i love music but my sight reading is poor, i can work a piece of music out, but on the spot i cant sight read. i stutter when playing, and i repeat bits, i think its because there is too much to think about. in my grade 3 exam i got a merit, and for my 3 pieces out of 30, i got 21, 25, and 28. but for sight reading out of 20, i got 8. nothing seems to work, i have tried many books, but i see no improvement, and me and my piano teachers are running out of ideas… any help???

I’m 13 and I just started taking private singing lessons 4 months ago. I’ve been playing piano since I was 6, and can sight read notes, but I really want to learn to sight sing and recognize pitches. I know I must be seriously musically disabled to not be able to and to have taken piano so long, but I havn’t done theory in a really long time, so even though I can read notes, if I just look at a piece of music I havnt seen before, I cant sing it. How can I learn to sight sing fast?
