ok i play the trumpet for school and this involves alot of sight reading. I always get lost becuase i can count and figure out how long a note lasts. this throws me off alot. on top of that i have difficulty knowing what each note sounds like . i.e starting at a low note to a high one. wtf i feel so useless. I can sight read grade 1/2 pieces but that doesnt help when im doin grade 5 this year. i suppose the main problem y i cant site-read is coz i memorize all my pieces within a month of playing them. i mean when i do my exam i never take my music book with the notes. i always play all three pieces from memory so technically im no longer readin – but i suppose LOADS of people can do that right? so any tips on how to improve this technique?
