Q&A asked: My boyfriend is 22 and he really wants to pursue music as a career. He has attended a two-yr college with a focus on arts, but he feels like he’s not good enough to get into a 4-yr university because of a lack of technical training (he has to audition and sight read ect).
I suggested he take private lessons, but we both don’t know what to look for in a teacher?
What else can my boyfriend do?
He really has such a good voice and loves learning about music, he’s just doesn’t know how to get on the right track to becoming a better guitarist!
Please, any suggestions would be great

oh_u asked: I’ve been studying piano for about a month now. It’s all on my own because I can’t afford lessons.
I’ve learned 4 or 5 songs now of varying difficulty, nothing too complex.. but I noticed that I still can not get a sense of what a song sounds like from the sheet music. I can read the notes and know the time they should get, but I still can’t make out a proper melody without a recording of the song. If I just keep learning songs from the sheet music, but with a recording to assist me, will I eventually get used to it and be able to sight read properly? Or are there specific exercises I should do to focus on sight reading?
Thanks
