as i said, i’ve been playing piano for 8 years. but one major problem is i can’t sight read that well. it takes me a while to learn a song because i have to go slow and look at each note and spend time on it. especially if it’s a chord or a very high or low note. does sight reading come from playing for a while or is there something i can do to get better?

Any One In That Has/Is taking AP Music Theory In High School?

XmyXdropXdeadXromanceX asked:

We had to pick our courses for next year and I put AP Music Theory as one of my classes. I love music and have been playing for 8 years (guitar, voice and piano) I am able to read notes perfectly and can sight read about any song you give me. However, I have not previously taken a Music Theory class. How difficult do you think this would be for me? Please give any advice that you found helpful :)

Thank you in advance for all of your input.

Will reading piano ever start getting easy for me?

Steven asked:

I know the notes thanks to my music theory class, and I pretty much know how the rhythms go because I en playing violin for 8 years…

My private teacher always tells me “read! look ahead!” but it’s kinda tedious with two hands…especially with chords, and if I look ahead I forget what’s on the measure I am currently on

I can play it perfectly with one hand, but once I get two, it’s difficult, and I want to be able to sight read it, and I feel like if I just memorize the fingering so I don’t have to look it would ruin my skills for sight reading…
