Watch British Television Online Tips

Tags:

The internet holds a vast collection of television channels and programs that you may not even see on your cable TV. Among the list are Hindi channels, Russian channels, Japanese channels, and British channels. Now, if you want to watch British television online, you simply have to visit sites that offer this type of service. But first, how did British TV come to be?

It started in January 1926, when John Logie Baird demonstrated TV by wireless transmission to the Royal Institution in London. After a year, the BBC became a public corporation. In August 1932, BBC started 30-line tests with the use of Baird’s system. This ran until September 1935. 405-line high definition service began in November 1936. The following year, the first outside broadcast of King George VI’s coronation procession landmarked itself. However, World War II caused the suspension of TV service in 1939. TV service resumed in 1946 as the war ended. In 1949, BBC television service began to spread outside of London. In fact, the first cross-channel broadcast from France to England occurred the following year.

In June 1954, Britain was linked to the Eurovision system. July of the same year marked the start of the daily news bulletin. Also during the same year, the Independent Television Authority, which was a public corporation, was established. In 1958, the first videotape broadcast was made by BBC using the VERA system. In the same year, Associated-Rediffusion showed its first program from Ampex VTR, which became the established format. The year 1962 marked the first transatlantic satellite broadcast. In 1967, color transmission on BBC2 began, and BBC also started using fully electronic, color, frame-rate standards conversion.

In 1978, BBC’s combined film and video tape archive was opened, and the junking policy came to an end. In the 1980′s, the following landmarks happened: Channel 4 was initiated in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland; breakfast television was started by BBC, followed by TVAM on the ITV network; and domestic satellite services by Sky Television began.

In 1990, British Satellite Broadcasting (BSB) opened, and Sky and BSB merged to form BSkyB. In 1998, digital satellite service and digital terrestrial service began. Digital terrestrial broadcasts included widescreen broadcasts. Finally, the year 2000 marked BBC’s first digital interactive program, as well as the start of high-definition service.

Now that you’ve read all about British TV’s development, you can finally enjoy and watch British television online.

Ahh please, HELP ME?

no homicide before the holidays♥ asked:

I’m attending a Fine Arts Camp this summer for the Bb clarinet, and apparantly I have to do an audition. What it says on the sheet is:
“…Music auditions consist of several major scales, a chromatic scale the full range of the instrument, and sight-reading.”

What scales are most likely going to be in the audition, and a bigger problem is I need a site that will help me with the chromatic scale. What does it mean by “the full range of the instrument:”? where can I find the fingerings? Please help me?!
Gah I’ve played the instrument from 2 years, but I’m in middle school and they don’t teach the -really- high notes. Plus I can barely play on a 3 1/2 reed, which would make it very hard to reach the notes above C (thumb+register key)

–second answerer, you are NO help at all. Thanks
Sorry I’m so worried, just I didn’t expect the “full range” thing, I don’t know the full range, I think I’m missing like 5 notes from it. I’ll try what you guys are telling me. Thank you!

College audition and interview?

Tags: , ,

Emily asked:

I have an audition and interview tomorrow at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and I’m soooo nervous!
This is my top, favorite school, but my very first interview and audition. I don’t want to mess up or make a fool of myself! I’ve prepared my piece, but am still very nervous about the sight reading, ear training, ‘blues progression’ and stuff.

Any words of wisdom, advice, tips, and suggestions would be appreciated!!

Ukuleles- Caring for Your Ukulele

Tags:

As all musicians know, instruments call for normal care and maintenance. Weather as well as other environmental factors impact the condition of a Ukulele. Given that they are produced of wood humidity affects the condition with the instrument as it loses or absorbs moisture.

Too dry as well as the wood may crack or shrivel. Too moist and the wood may possibly swell or warp. For this reason, the instrument wants cleaned and inspected frequently. Sometimes this means keeping them in a case having a humidifier or taking them out to dry. Modifications in weather may also impact tuning and cause the neck to warp.

Cleaning and caring for your instrument could be the exact same as caring for a guitar. Clean and care for your Ukulele frequently. The same brand of polishes, cleaners and fret board oils utilized for guitars may also be utilized to clean a uke. The body and also the fret board are created of differing supplies and need distinct kind of cleaners. Never use the same one on both surfaces. Cleaning and polishing protects the instrument against the sweat and salt produced by the player’s skin. Sweat can deteriorate the wood finish and corrode the fret wires. It also collects on the wood surface causing it to hold on to dirt and dust.

Take care when cleaning about dings, blemishes, cracks or dents. If cleaning fluid gets into them, it could cause the wood to swell and make those blemishes worse. If the ukulele shows some small scratches or surface marks, you’ll be able to use a clear nail polish to seal them. This technique needs the use of a tiny brush along with a steady hand. Wax is great to use for sealing cracks inside the wood. It is possible to use a guitar wax as it’ll also maintain moisture out. One approach to prevent scratches when cleaning will be the use of a microfiber towel.

In no way use ammonia based cleaners on your instrument. These sorts of cleaners aren’t made for wood and dry the surface out causing it to warp or crack. Ammonia will also deteriorate strings and dull the ukulele’s finish. Household cleaning goods like furniture oils are not very good cleaning merchandise as well. They leave a residue that attracts dirt and dust permitting it to collect on the instrument. By no means use straight lemon oil to clean the fret board as it’s a solvent. Nonetheless, you will find fret board oils that include lemon oil, but not at a high sufficient concentration to hurt the instrument.
