I’m not sure what level you’re supposed to be on, if this is good or bad, but I’m on Suzuki book 5, i just finished playing borowski’s adoration..idk if you’ve heard it but its a beautiful piece… anyways I’m in a youth orchestra in my area that hasn’t started rehearsal yet, but to be in that orchestra it’s required that i be in my school’s music program. I go to a small private school with A LOT of really good musicians, so we’re playing things like Haydn (the photocopier cut off the name..i should probably know it hahah) that’s waaaay beyond me because i’ve never played in an orchestra. i can sight read pretty well but I can’t stay along with the rest of the orchestra. We had our first rehearsal last week and it was terrible for me because i’ve never played with such a big group. i was barely playing any notes i was so lost….
So what do you think i should do? i can’t really quit because the conductor rarely lets people that quit back in the next year and because i need to play in my school orchestra to be in my youth orchestra. If i stay, will i get better and able to stay along with the rest of them? how long do you think getting better and more used to orchestra will take?

Hi, so ive been playing for about two and a half years, so not very long and I take lessons. I usually use the minor pentatonic scale usually in the key of a, b, g, e minor and f. I know all of the key of e, f, and d, and most other keys. I know maybe about fifteen songs, and a lot of riffs, I dont have that much trouble learning new songs on my own. I have a lot of fun
With what I know and playing in general. I play blues rock and funk and im fifteen. The problem is that my note and sight reading is not that good, I practice it a lot, but still. Is it bad I use tabs,instead of sheet music for now? Again, I havent been playing for that long, so I have a lot of time to practice, but still, is it bad?
