Hey! I know I just asked this question, but I failed to mention that I am a professional, paid singer. I do shows and have been for about a year. Ive been singing for twelve and have had many trainers and coaches. Ive been with my current one for about three years. This is kind of how I learned to play. Ive been basically forced to sight read all the music thats ever been put infront of me. I just learned how to transfer it to the piano.
Now that weve gotten that out of the way,
Hey! does this sound halfway decent? I recorded it on my iphone (horrible quality) … Ive never had piano lessons.
Should I take lessons?
Also, please check out my other youtube videos (IF YOU WANT) http://www.youtube.com/user/iwnabonbrdway
i tried to sight read, but i’m slow at it, and i also have another problem, how will i be able to place my fingers on the correct key to play the notes if i can sight read fast enough, i mean my pair of eyes can only look at either the sheet music or the keys on the piano, one at at time, if i sight read then how am i gonna know which keys to press out of the 88 keys or if i look down just for a sec or two , wouldnt i lose track of where i am at on the sheet music and ended up pausing the songs by a few seconds here and there?
I remember some1 telling me that i should be playin the bass cleft several times and try to memorize it and then play the treble cleft several times and try to memorize, then put it together and play the whole song. but it’s not workin i suck at memory, i mean i could remember some but forget some part, it is extremely slow and is this even the right method if it takes u a month to learn a song this way?
how does pianist sight read and play at the same time?
In one week I have to go to Jackson, Tennessee to audition for All West Tennessee. I’m really nervous though! This is my first year, and I’ve never played in front of a judge. With a group, or independently.
For the competition, we have to sight read, play all twelve scales (the Chromatic as well), and our prepared music as well. I don’t have all the scales memorized, I’m working on that, and my Chromatic is ok. I suck at sight reading. But, my prepared sheet sounds great.
* Here’s what the music looks like, if you have any suggestions!
