Sight reading for Singers?

Tags: , , , ,

Katelyn asked:

I am doing an all county solo this coming month and part of it involves sight reading. does anyone know any good sites where i can print off sight reading music? ((preferably in an alto range and with no skips!))

Also…

any suggestions for becoming a better sight reader?

and…

there is one section in the song that goes rather high in my range and is marked fortissimo. i can barely sing it in tune, let alone that loud! any suggestions for that problem?
the sight reading i have to do is stuff that i’ve never seen or heard before. all i get to go from is a scale and my starting pitch.

Dyslexia and sight-reading music?

Tags: , , ,

Eman Ekaf asked:

I have a student in my choir class who is dyslexic. Do you have any suggestions for helping her sight-read our music? She is a good singer and can read music (just not fast enough for sight-reading).

Does anybody know of a site that teaches you how to read music? We’ve been using solfege in choir but I want to try to make all-state choir and want to be on my a-game.

Can I master music with my crazy ass schedule?

Tags: , , , ,

muzikizmalyfe asked:

Okay I am very dedicated to music. I play piano (which im desperately trying to master, i dropped the classes since i realized i can read music but the rest needs to come out from me not taught [the only problem i really have is bass sight reading and moving my left hand]), I play drums i can read the music somewhat decent although i can only play basic patterns and grooves. I am learning how to play guitar with lessons once a week, and am thinking of learning violin and trumpet next year.

The problem is I am taking Ap English along with Ap History next year in my junior year, i am scared that i might not have time to practice music at my house with tons of work (i have two band classes in my schedule next year so i can practice in school). It is only those two classes I am really worried about. I am thinking of dropping both AP classes and going to honors but then yet i feel like im cheating myself from reaching my full academic potential. So can someone give me any advice like seriously? It is much needed I have like no sense of direction. I am really dedicated with music i know with time i can make it in the music industry but I would still like to brag how I am doing in school. Any advice would be appreciated. Im only 16 so this is a little hectic to me.
