GPA and Sats are a major focus at BIG well almost ALL universities!

Another thing to check into would be the correct spelling of the program you want to attend.

These schools look at GPA and SAT’s, but also for the diversity of your involvement in school. With such a low GPA as yours (forget promises to yourself, they’re only wishes), I’d get into a lot of activities besides band. Student Government, clubs, trips, charities, community service, church, etc. count ALOT. It goes without saying that you need to be VERY good with your guitar. If you’re practicing less than 4 or 5 hours a day, you probably won’t cut it. They want to see growth and diversity.

Ziggy is dead wrong…activities mean very little in college admission. They will not compensate for unsatisfactory grades or SAT’s. Obviously, Berklee will give great weight to your musical experience, talent level and (most of all) potential.

But your grades and your writing skills will require significant improvement. Forget next year or the year after…start taking steps to better yourself now.

Honestly? Berklee is willing to take people of all levels as long as they want to learn. You’ll notice this during your interview, but what they really care about is focus and commitment. Yes, they’ll look at your grades to a point, but its not the same as trying to get into a regular liberal arts college, since there are only minimum requirements for liberal arts classes. Knowing your theory is a great thing to have as well, and although its not necessary to get into the school, you’ll find it really helpful on the placement exam once you get in.
I’ll also tell you that they look at the audition a lot, but since they’ve only been auditioning for a couple years, it isn’t the most important factor. I figure, as long as you get your G.P.A. back out of the hole, and you keep practicing, you should have no problem!
    Good luck!!
