College audition and interview?

Tags: , , , , , ,

Emily asked:

I have an audition and interview tomorrow at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and I’m soooo nervous!
This is my top, favorite school, but my very first interview and audition. I don’t want to mess up or make a fool of myself! I’ve prepared my piece, but am still very nervous about the sight reading, ear training, ‘blues progression’ and stuff.

Any words of wisdom, advice, tips, and suggestions would be appreciated!!

  1. Learn How to Sight Read Music

Play the music to please YOURSELF and be yourself in every aspect you can during the interview. It truly is the best advice I can give.

  2. Sight Reading Secrets Revealed

In the middle of your song, immediately stop playing your instrument and sing out and hold for about 10 seconds one random note with a LOT of vibrato, and then resume playing your instrument. This will score you a lot of “points” and impress them greatly.
