Hey! I know I just asked this question, but I failed to mention that I am a professional, paid singer. I do shows and have been for about a year. Ive been singing for twelve and have had many trainers and coaches. Ive been with my current one for about three years. This is kind of how I learned to play. Ive been basically forced to sight read all the music thats ever been put infront of me. I just learned how to transfer it to the piano.

Hey! does this sound halfway decent? I recorded it on my iphone (horrible quality) … Ive never had piano lessons.

Good job…but you should take lessons to learn proper technique, at least as a basis. Once you have the basic things, you can alter it to fit your style if that’s what you want to do.

i honestly think that you can play. you should take lessons if you want to continue to pursue the piano and i think you will go far. but for someone who just plays to play, i think you are good
Sight Reading Music Lessons
Before you know whether you do well or bad, you should know how to measure greatness in piano.
I asked my grandma this, (she’s a pianist, who worked with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and was a professor of music at Boston University)
I asked her what is a good pianist, and she said someone who plays the song how it was written, and plays it with energy. Brings energy to it.
To someone who doesn’t know much about Piano, you would be WONDERFUL. To someone like my grandma you would be terrible.
But, for how I see it, you are mainly a singer and areusing it as accompaniment, and so for what it is, you are doing well. But if you plan on making this a “craft” and going professional then you have a long way to go. But you are doing well, so you’ve already come a long way.
